Frequently Asked Questions

1. I work hours that make dropping my bike off in person difficult or impossible, what can I do?

We understand that our scheduled doesn't mesh with everyone's, so there are two options for staff members that can't make our 8:30 am drop off:

Early Drop Off

Drop the bike off before 8:30am, leave it in the Lot 1 cage unlocked, or lock your bike and drop the key our drop box (located on the shop gate). Email us with your contact information, a description of the bike, the code to your lock or if the key is in the drop box, and what issues you would like us to address.

We will get back to you via email with a complete estimate for the repair. Please be available to reply with an approval or questions for the repair and settle up for whatever balance there may be from your repair before you pick up the bike.

Late Drop Off

If you work later in the day, please contact us via email on the morning of the appointment to let us know that you will be arriving later in the day. Generally we can still complete repairs on bikes dropped off before noon. If it is dropped off late, we may not be able to return it to you before the end of the day, we will do our best to let you know when we can get your bike back.

2. How long will it take for me to get my bike back?

Generally, bikes dropped off with us by 8:30 am are ready to ride home before 4pm on the same day. If for whatever reason we do not have the parts or materials to compete the repair we will contact you and work with you on planning your commute.

3. How much will my visit cost?

Your two Subsidized Complete Tune Ups are provided at no charge by Seattle Children's. Most repairs will require some additional parts or labor, which is offered at a discount to you through the Staff Bicycle Service Center. All parts and accessories are at least 10% off and all additional labor is 50% off.

4. I will need some parts, do you have what I need?

The Staff Bicycle Service Center is a fully stocked bike shop, we have most of what the average bike repair needs. Some riders and some bikes need things that we do not have on site. If we don't have it with us at Children's or at our shop in Wedgwood we can order it for you and have your bike back to you in a few days.

5. I need some follow up work or I have a small issue like a flat tire, do I need to schedule an appointment?

If you have any follow up issues with work we have done for you, or if you have something minor, like a flat fix or a brake adjust, you can always stop by to see if we can fit you in. Spring and Summer are exceptionally busy, but we always prioritize your safety and making sure you can keep riding.

6. What do I need to drop off my bike?

Its best to bring your badge, your bikes, and a credit card. The cage is badge access only and your bike is pretty necessary, obviously, but bringing a form of payment when you drop your bike of really helps streamline the process.
